Monopoly Game Pieces...Hmmm...Interesting!

This is a VERY interesting article I found in the HotCouponWorld Forum! Those tricky little buggers!

Think you may have a rare monopoly piece?!? IT MAY NOT BE...

"I noticed in the fine print of the rules, that they are being tricky by not only printing the limited number of the key pieces needed to win from a prize group but also printing a limited number of semi-rare pieces from many prize groups. From the rules: "* Odds of winning are based on the likelihood of obtaining the one rare game marker needed to win, plus there will be a semi-rare game marker that is printed with odds of 1 in 5,000 game tickets."

This makes it nearly impossible to identify whether or not you actually have the winning key rare piece or just its semi-rare sister (also needed) for certain prize groups without a sufficient data set. For example, the dream house (Group A) contains a single key piece that will only be printed 1 in 60 million (total number of pieces / markers). But, there is another piece in that group which is only being printed 1 out of 5,000 pieces. Is it A102 or is it A106? We don't know yet, but we know it is one of those. One of those is the key. One of those is the semi-rare sister. It's a tricky ploy to avoid actually awarding the prizes, but with enough data and crowd sourcing, we can publish the actual key pieces."
